Is Disney worth it with little kids?

Weekly Newsletter

Hey Reader!

"Isn't it kind of a waste to take them when they're this young? They won't even remember it."

I've heard some version of that question more times than I can count, and I get why people ask it. But I've now done this twice, once with an almost-two-year-old and once with a nine-month-old and a three-year-old together, and I can tell you what I actually believe.

Worth it is different for every family. That's not a cop-out answer, it's the honest one. For some families, waiting until kids are older genuinely is the right call, and there's nothing wrong with that. But for us, going young was worth it, and here's why.

I think there's magic in everything, and the small moments are the ones you actually remember. Not the perfect itinerary. Not whether every ride got ridden. The way your toddler danced with a bubble wand. The way your baby's eyes went wide at the parade lights. Those moments happen at any age.

Before having kids I didn't think I would take them until they were older, which is part of why we waited until my son was almost 2. But after taking a 9 month old? Go. Make the memories. it's magical at every age. 30-something included!

Here's the other thing I've learned. You won't necessarily remember if anything goes wrong. The nap that got skipped, the meltdown at dinner, the ride you didn't get to, those fade fast. What sticks is the good stuff. It's better to make the memories than to not.

So if you're waiting for your kids to be "old enough," ask yourself what that's really about. Is it about them, or is it about feeling ready yourself? Both are valid answers. But don't let "they won't remember it" be the reason you wait, because honestly, some of my favorite memories are ones only I remember, and that's more than enough.

If you're planning a trip with little ones and want it to actually work for your family's stage of life, that's exactly what I help with. Hit reply and let's talk about it, at no extra cost to you.

Have a magical week!

Weekly Newsletter Hey Reader! I'll be honest with you — I'm a little emotional even writing this. There's a ride at EPCOT that gets me every single time. Not because it's the most thrilling. Not because it has the longest history or the best theming. But because of what happened the first time I really watched someone else experience it. Soarin' Over California. (Now Soarin' Around the World) If you've been on it, you know. You're lifted up into this giant wraparound screen, your feet are...
